Permanence

I paused and looked around. I was surrounded by mountains covered in quilts of green. The sky was melting down towards the earth, gently tucking it in. And there I was in the center. Standing on asphalt with shoots of grass pushing through cracks, demanding that their prescience be known. The mist began to kiss my cheeks, not knowing the difference between Earth and human. Undiscriminating. Are we not one in the same? After all, every part of me has come from matter of the Earth. So, like all things, I will go on forever. And now I wonder, am I living in a way I wish to be permanent? Are my prints tender touches of love? Or scratches leaving scars behind?
